BERLIN — IFA, Europe's largest consumer electronics trade show, wrapped up its latest edition this week at Messe Berlin. For PC enthusiasts, monitors generated the most excitement, alongside a wave of new laptops, gaming handhelds and AI-focused desktop hardware. Here are 10 standout products and technologies from this year's show, drawing on analysis from technology outlet PCWorld.

  1. Acer Vero 16. Acer's refreshed sustainability-focused laptop places a strong emphasis on repairability. Its main component bay can be accessed without tools, while the hinges and battery are replaceable and the solid-state drive can be swapped by users. The memory, however, remains soldered in place, as is common with current-generation Core Ultra laptops. The machine pairs an OLED display with a Core Ultra 5 processor in its base configuration, with upgrades available to a Core Ultra X9 chip, Arc B390 graphics and a 71-watt-hour battery. Once pricing is confirmed, it could be a solid mid-range all-purpose option.
  2. Lenovo's Project AeroBlade concept. Lenovo showcased a concept 14-inch laptop built around Frore's AirJet cooling chip, a solid-state cooling technology that removes the need for conventional fans. The resulting design weighs just 1.83 pounds — roughly the weight of a full 24-ounce water bottle — while still running an Intel Core Ultra 200 processor capable of moderate performance. Given Lenovo's history of eventually commercialising similar concepts, analysts expect a retail version could arrive as soon as 2027.
  3. Alienware AW2527HX 560Hz gaming monitor. Dell's Alienware brand unveiled a 24.5-inch, 1080p esports monitor with a blistering 560Hz refresh rate. It retains OLED's key visual advantages, including deep contrast, accurate colours and fast pixel response times, and carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification. The monitor marks a significant shift for competitive gaming displays, which have traditionally relied on older TN panel technology that prioritises speed over image quality. Design input from esports organisation Team Liquid, including height markers on the stand to ensure consistent setup, is expected to appeal to competitive players when the display launches in the first quarter of 2027.
  4. Acer Nitro XV275U Z2. Acer's new Mini-LED monitor demonstrates how accessible premium display technology has become. It will retail for just $329 when launched later this year, offering peak HDR brightness of 1,000 nits through 1,152 individually controlled backlight zones. The display supports variable refresh rates of up to 275Hz at its native 1440p resolution, 360Hz at 1080p and 520Hz at 720p, while avoiding the risk of pixel burn-in associated with OLED technology. It is expected to reach the market before the holiday shopping season.
  5. Alienware 32 4K OLED Gaming Monitor. Dell's AW3226 brings new "RGB Stripe" OLED technology to a 4K gaming display, addressing text-clarity concerns that have historically led buyers to favour Mini-LED over OLED panels. The 32-inch monitor combines a 165Hz refresh rate with peak brightness of 1,000 nits, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and Dolby Vision certification. Factory calibration covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space, making it appealing to gamers and creative professionals alike. Built-in HDMI 2.1 support also makes it compatible with consoles. The monitor is expected to launch later this autumn for $699.
  6. Acer Project DualPlay Mini. Acer's concept gaming handheld opens to reveal a hidden mini-laptop keyboard, attempting to bridge the gap between portable gaming handhelds and full-sized laptops. The device packs an Arc G3 graphics configuration into its compact body, offering greater portability than a conventional gaming laptop while retaining a full keyboard. Its 8-inch screen and lack of a trackpad are notable compromises, however. The concept has not been confirmed for production, and some industry observers remain sceptical that it will reach the market in its current form.
  7. Acer SFF RTX Spark Mini Workstation. Positioned between a mini PC and a full desktop tower, Acer's new workstation is built around Nvidia's RTX Spark platform. It features a Blackwell RTX graphics processor with up to 6,144 cores, an Nvidia Grace CPU with up to 20 cores, up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 1 petaflop of AI computing capability. The system is designed to let users run AI language models and image-generation tools locally instead of relying on cloud subscriptions, offering greater privacy and no usage caps. Acer has not yet announced pricing or availability.
  8. Nvidia RTX PAIR. Alongside its hardware announcements, Nvidia unveiled a free software application called RTX PAIR, short for Personal AI Router, for Windows, macOS and Linux. The app combines the graphics-processing power of every compatible PC in a household, dynamically distributing AI inference workloads across multiple machines. In a demonstration cited by Nvidia, a batch of AI tasks that took more than 18 minutes on a single computer was completed in about nine minutes after being distributed across three machines. The software is available immediately.
  9. Lenovo Project Swan concept. Lenovo's rollable-screen concept transforms a standard 14-inch ThinkBook laptop into a widescreen ultrawide display at the press of a button. It offers an intriguing preview of flexible-display technology that could eventually change how laptops balance portability with additional screen space for productivity work.
  10. Acer Swift Blade 14. Acer's latest ultralight laptop weighs just 1.76 pounds, making it lighter than both Lenovo's AeroBlade concept and Acer's previous TravelMate P6 14 AI model. It is also about a pound lighter than Apple's MacBook Air. The laptop pairs an 1800p OLED display with a new Wildcat Lake processor and a 50-watt-hour battery, although questions remain over battery life and real-world performance until independent testing is completed.

Beyond these individual standouts, this year's IFA reinforced a broader industry shift towards on-device AI processing, repairable and sustainable laptop design, and increasingly advanced displays aimed at competitive gamers and creative professionals. Several of the products showcased — including the Alienware monitors, Acer's Nitro display and the Swift Blade laptop — are expected to reach consumers in the coming months. The show therefore offered an unusually clear indication of which emerging PC technologies could move from trade-show novelty to store shelves before the end of 2026 and into early 2027.
